Baby Shower Games

It’s not officially a baby shower until you’ve played a few games. Why? Well games are a great way for strangers to become friends. And as is often the case with baby showers, you may not know a lot of people there. Baby shower games are also great “icebreaker”, and a great way to add some life to the party which. Let’s be honest, would get a little boring if all you did was eat and open gifts.

When to play the baby shower games

In the course of your baby shower, you’ll probably want to play games either in the beginning or towards the middle of the party. You don’t want to play games at the end because nobody will want to leave! It’s always a good idea to play a game early on to allow everyone to “wake up” and get to know each other a bit better (these would be icebreaker type games).

Types of games

Not all games are created equal though, there are many types of games that can be played. We’ve categorized them as follows to help you figure out which ones could work for you: icebreakers, get to know the mother, get to know others and just plain fun.

Our Top 10 Baby Shower Games

Now let’s have a look at the top 10 baby shower games that we came up with according to a survey of 50 baby shower hosts we did last month. The number in parentheses is the amount of hosts that played that game. Now they are all very traditional baby shower games that may sound a little boring, but it wouldn’t be a baby shower if you didn’t play at least one of them:

  1. Guess size (15)
  2. Baby Bingo (12)
  3. Pin pacifier on baby (or pin sperm on the egg) (10)
  4. Word find/scrabble game (8)
  5. Chocolate in diaper (8)
  6. Baby Food Test (7)
  7. Guess Jelly Beans (5)
  8. Don’t say “baby” (5)
  9. Baby in Ice cube (5)
  10. Baby song trivia (4)

The Prizes

Of course, part of the fun of playing this games is declaring someone a winner, and winner’s always want a prize! Some prizes we offer in our packages include chocolates, lotions and soaps, candles and more. The prizes you decide to give out should depend on the amount of games you’ll be playing (if you’re only playing a game or two you can splurge on a few big prizes), the age of the guests and your budget.
